Construction work on the new Phase 1 facilities at Central Prison in Raleigh is nearly complete.  Phase 1 work consists of a new inmate housing building (70,000 sq. ft) and a new inmate receiving and diagnostic center (22,000 sq. ft). The project cost is 21.6 million dollars.  Phase 1 is the first phase of a four phase master plan that will fully develop and renovate Central Prison.  Phase 2 design which is on going will construct a new NCDOC central hospital, a new central utilities plant and renovations to existing facilities.
